Feature: Bulgarian language support

Thanks to a user in Bulgaria, we now support 31 fully translated languages, making Calcapp accessible to an even broader global audience.

Thanks to an intrepid user in Bulgaria, Calcapp now supports Bulgarian as its 31st fully translated language. This means Bulgarian-language apps now display proper text labels like Back (to move back to the previous screen) and Open (to open a downloaded report), in addition to the number and date formatting that Calcapp has supported for years.

Since we introduced multilingual support seven years ago, Calcapp has supported 79 languages and 147 language variants for number and date formatting. For example, 123,456.78 in US English is rendered as “123 456,78” in Swedish, and “October 24, 2043” is rendered as “24 oktober, 2043” in Swedish. However, only a subset of these languages have full translations for app interface labels.

Why language support matters

Out of curiosity, we analyzed what languages our published apps use. When we look only at apps created by paying customers, English accounts for less than half of all published apps. More than half of our customer base creates apps in other languages.

This suggests that multilingual support isn’t just a nice feature — it’s essential. Without it, we likely would have lost more than half of our customers to competitors. The investment in language support has clearly paid off.

Here’s the breakdown of all published apps (including test apps from trial users, which explains English’s dominance as the default):

Beyond adding Bulgarian, we’ve also improved translations for several existing languages, ensuring that interface labels better match what native speakers expect. These refinements make apps feel more natural and professional to users around the world.
